Internet/intranet mapping
Internet mapping is one of the most successful dot com developments over the recent years as the visual aspects of mapping lend themselves perfectly to digital media such as the internet.

Whilst Geoplan offer a range of desktop and internet based mapping solutions, it is a common misconception that all mapping requirements for the internet require sophisticated web-enabled mapping software. Many map requirements for the internet can be achieved simply by the provision of static map images.

In addition to the provision of online mapping tools, Geoplan has also been involved in map production for companies requiring straight forward reference maps including:

• Office location and direction maps.
• Navigation maps to support online directory navigation and listing.
• Service provision maps detailing the geographic availability of required services.

A project for a leading mobile phone provider involved the manipulation of databases to determine sales team coverage areas, followed by the creation of regional and national hierarchies. Each territory was represented as an interactive spreadsheet solution including map, customer list and hotspots for each team member.

An existing Geoplan client recently contacted us for support in modelling a proposed national restructuring of their account managers. By applying our experience and considerable processing resources we produced an optimal model of territories (based on demand and travelling time) in a fraction of the time normally required. This 'first phase' of analysis has allowed our client to illustrate immediately potential cost-savings and enter straight into detailed refinement of the new structure.
