ONLINE MAPPING - SYSTEM DEMO
An explanation of the key functions of the system demo
The UK System Demo provides you with four main functions that can be accessed as illustrated below:
Navigation Tools
Use the navigation tools to:
- Zoom in
- Zoom out
- Pan
- Jump to
- Measure distance
- Set height
Overlays
Expand the Overlays section in the Map Panel to switch different layers on and off including:
- Geoplan Postcode Areas
- Geoplan Postcode Districts
- Geoplan Postcode Sectors
Thematic Mapping (Hotspot Maps)
The Thematic Mapping panel allows you to display a hotspot map from a range of 3 Census variables using the following steps:
Step 1: Click on the variable button
to pick the variable of your choice.
Step 2: Change the Search In box to be Census Data and highlight the
Census variable you wish to display from the list at the bottom of the panel and
click Select.
Step 3: Select the colour and
classification method that you wish
to use and select update map at the
top of the panel.
Legend
The legend panel will indicate
which layers are currently
displayed on the map.
