ADDRESSBASE records with the same national grid co-ordinates and different Postcode attributes cannot be tessellated to create polygon boundaries. These records have consequently been represented through the use of square polygons situated over the relevant grid co-ordinates, which hold the relevant Postcode attributes. Each one of these square polygons is attributed with a unique reference, which refers to a look-up table containing the Postcodes associated with that location. This look-up table is provided as a separate file called XX_vstreet_lookup.txt, where XX is the Postcode Area.

Certain Postcode points have not been used in the production of boundaries for this product. An additional file has been included for each Postcode Area called XX_Discard.txt, where XX refers to the Postcode Area. This file contains two fields, one listing the Postcodes discarded, whilst the second lists a brief explanation to indicate the reason why the point was discarded.
