Latest SKiN Feedback

Over the last few months we have been out and about delivering on-site ESP Visits to our GeoAnalyser customers. As you may be aware, the visits usually focus on current system usage and any key issues and developments that have come into play since our last visit. On this occasion, we were also able to introduce SKiN and illustrate the intended step driven workflow, new functionality and key benefits. The iPad was used to demonstrate the above alongside a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation.

We were able to reassure those customers that depend on a desktop based system, that this will always be available as an option. Similarly, for those clients eager to see more of SKiN Online or SKiN mobile technology, we were able to demonstrate that this is very much in line with current development plans and that the iPad is simply a sign of things to come.

The visits have allowed us to provide an update on progress however we were also seeking feedback as a means of guiding future development. We wanted to gather initial views to ensure that the system matches exact requirements, and delivers against business objectives. With this in mind, we are pleased to provide some examples of the feedback provided below. We are also pleased to present output from mobile systems already built for current customers, as a sneak peek of where we are up to.

We asked our customers what their overall impression was

"Step in the right direction" Sean Metcalfe, Costcutter

"Brilliant, flows better, at the moment the icons are not obvious" Vikki Donnachie, Surecare

"Looks better than current system" Clive Longley, Tarmac

We asked our customers what they thought about the look and feel

"Clean, intuitive and functionality is not hidden" Robert Rattley, Guardian & Observer

"Very self-explanatory" Paul Gibson, SIG Plc

"Much more in line with what people are used to" Roger White, Norbert Dentressangle

We asked our customers what they thought about ease of use

"Looks easier than current system" Stephen Smith, Ronseal

"Makes sense and looks easy" Sean Cranstone, NG15

"Simpler. Like the suggestion screen where in import it asks what type of layer the user wants to create" Chris Geddes, Ashtead Plant Hire

We asked our customers what they thought about the workflow and process

"Simpler - can see that processes look shorter and less likely to go wrong" Chris Geddes, Ashtead Plant Hire

"Looks fairly easy and self explanatory. Test will be learning curve" Sean Cranstone, NG15

"Less need for a prompt to get started. Benefit to sporadic users" Roger White, Norbert Dentressangle

We asked our customers what they thought about the proposed System components (Store/DM/Skin)

"Good that I can manage data and layers in this way and have control over what you license and for how long - more flexible" Susan Sopworth, Kellogg

"Good - I get it" Gill Attmore, Napp Pharmaceuticals

"OK. Will be easier to manage data layers in comparison to way the current dictionary works" Clive Longley, Tarmac

We asked our customers if the changes will solve any current issues

"Yes - currently struggle with layer control - visibility and selectable and display" Vikki Donnachie, Surecare

"Unsure if the system will improve the quality of the Map Output. Will be good to see more" Andrew Parsons, Molly Maid.

Finally, we asked our customers for any other comments

"Pay per use approach will be a plus point and tablet based platform will enable more professional demonstrations in internal meetings" Robert Rattley, Guardian & Observer

"Ensure that the system does not operate at a slower speed as a result of the enhancements. Speed very important, as is the ability to control when the updates take place. Down time whilst updating would be a nightmare on short turn around jobs" Alan Bell, Product Development Corporation

"Mobile application of huge interest - for field personnel looking at new or existing sites - ability to access walktime tool via an 'app'" Sean Metcalfe, Costcutter

Next Steps

We will provide a more detailed update on progress and launch plans for SKiN in the coming weeks and months and would like to thank you for your feedback and patience to date. Development has evolved as we have identified ways to enhance our offering and as per previous communications, we are not prepared to release until we are 100% happy with the end result. In the meantime, if you would like to see a demonstration of SKiN on the iPad using your business information or if you have any questions, please call us on 01423 569538 or email to sales@geoplan.com.
