Territory Optimisation and Route Scheduling Optimisation
Geoplan is committed to continuous improvement across all our products and processes and the most recent example of this can be seen with our newly developed territory optimisation and route scheduling optimisation algorithms.
The purpose of our initiative was to improve our offering to our customers with the objective of providing seamless optimum territory and route schedules. This serves as a logical extension to the delivery of actionable information to field workers with the overall aim of waste reduction.
As part of our longer term strategy we decided to approach independent system engineering company; the Smith Institute. The team at the Smith Institute has outstanding technical skills in mathematical sciences required to develop and deliver against our algorithm specifications. In collaboration with the Smith Institute our Consultancy and Support team have been working in close partnership to brief the Smith Insitute to enable the team to provide mathematical consultancy to solve our business problem. As a result, we have been provided with the ability to improve our product range and business strategy by combining academic excellence with business understanding.

"The Smith Institute is delighted to be working with Geoplan to create new algorithms for vehicle routing and territory optimisation. Together we've been working to ensure that Geoplan's software finds great solutions to difficult problems rapidly. The staff at the Smith Institute have all been impressed with the professionalism and technical ability of the Geoplan team, and we've built up a very constructive business relationship where everyone benefits, especially Geoplan's clients. We're looking forward to solving more of those tricky problems in the future."
Dr Heather Tewkesbury, Business Development Director
The new algorithms will be standard products offering functional extensions to both GeoAnalyser and SKIN. However, there will be the flexibility available to make the tool bespoke depending on your specific requirements. The products are expected to be completed and available in March 2012 at an entry level cost of £1000 each.
As always we are keen and interested to hear your comments and feedback. If you would like to evaluate the software, or have any bespoke requirement, then please contact our Account Management Team on 01423 569538.
