A New Approach to Mapping Software
At Geoplan we are always seeking to improve the way our products perform, and some important developments are now on the horizon which we feel will significantly enhance the capabilities we offer to our customers.
Our aim is to deliver a new approach to the use of mapping in business, by providing data, tools and software on a pay-per-use basis. These new products will incorporate a Data Manager, Online Store offering customers online access worldwide data, together with versatile tools to purchase, manage and use mapping data.
The new Geoplan Store will offer mapping software, add-on applications, data, upgrades and updates in a range of subscription and pay-per-use modules, allowing users to purchase only the precise data and functionality they need and for the precise amount of time they need it. This means that businesses who require everything from a minor data set right up to data and software for corporate BIS and EIS applications can manage their requirements on demand and with exact control over price and functionality.
All data and software tools are organised via a downloadable Data Manager, and together with the all-new Geoplan interface, users can then manipulate data and implement mapping projects also using their own data, and with no training required.
“We are mindful that these developments may raise a variety of questions in the minds of existing users about how their Geoplan technology will change, but it is our intention to work closely with our customers to provide the best delivery approach,” explained John Taylor, managing director of Geoplan.
More information will be released in the coming weeks, but Geoplan Basic, Expert and Advanced products will see their first enhancements by July/August this year as part of the R50 data release, with GeoAnalyser scheduled to follow suit at the end of September/October. The development path also provides the framework for online and SaaS versions of the products - more details of that also coming soon.
