Free data from Ordnance Survey
Ordnance Survey has made a large range of its mapping and GIS data available for free, with users now able to download data direct, and view maps and boundary information for the entire UK.
“This is an interesting development for users of mapping data and we are actively studying where this fits into the Geoplan portfolio so we can help our customers save time and money. Even though the data is free, it will still require effort to make it accessible, and we are in an ideal position to help businesses make the most of this new development” explained John Taylor, managing director of Geoplan.
Geoplan is also considering releasing free OS data with the upcoming release of Geoplan SKiN - more new on that coming soon.
More information is available from Ordnance Survey on their OS OpenData website at: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/opendata/, or please contact Geoplan direct on 01423 568538 to discuss further - we’re happy to help.
