Tip 13 - GeoAnalyser - Creating a Custom “Jump-to”
When navigating around your map, it is often useful to be able to jump-to a location in order to view the geography and data of a point or area quickly. As standard, GeoAnalyser allows you jump to a range of locations such as Towns, Postcodes, Streets and Admin boundaries.
If you have imported a large amount of your own data (e.g. customer locations), it is helpful to be able to jump to these locations without having to manually zoom or use the standard jump-to options.

GeoAnalyser allows you to create your own custom jump-to to allow you to navigate to your own locations quickly. In order to do this, follow these instructions:
- Open the Tactician UK Dictionary (Window > Dictionary).
- From the drop down select "Directories".
- Click Add.
- Navigate to the data you wish to add as a jump to (must be a T2K file).
- Select the "Name Variable" - the column you wish to search by (e.g. Surname).
- Under "Display as" input the name you wish to see in the Jump to (e.g. Surname).
- Tick "Qualifier Variable" if there are duplicate names within the data and you wish to use a second column as a qualifier (e.g. Forename).
- Click OK and give the Directory a name (e.g. Customers). Save the dictionary.
Now when you use the jump-to tool you can select your data from the drop down list and search accordingly.

Tip 14 - Basic/Expert/Advanced - Customising the Initial Map
The following functionality is available across the wide spectrum of our mapping software products to varying degrees of detail.
When opening the software, the default map will always be the full UK view displaying Postcode Area Boundaries. This is a useful starting point allowing you to view information at a national view with the ability to zoom to a particular region or location if necessary.
However, Geoplan recognise that many businesses are regional in their coverage area and a national level map is not necessary. Therefore we have provided the option to set the position of the map to a specific area when starting up the software:

To allow you change in initial position of the map, do the following:
- Open the Options menu (Map > Options).
- Deselect "Show all map on startup" under the Initial Position panel.
- Input the X, Y coordinates for the centre of the map. Now enter the height you wish to view the map at.
- Alternatively click "Get Details from current view" to select the current map view as the initial position.
- Now when you open up the software, the map will show the coverage that you wish to work with.
