
Update Cycle Improvements
Companies rely on Geoplan data, mapping and analysis products because we are the only independent company in the UK that is committed to the maintenance, enhancement and exploitation of Postcode data as a tool for competitive advantage.
Our relationships with Royal Mail and Ordnance Survey have facilitated the development of a fully integrated range of postcode related products and services, and we focus significant time and effort to the biannual update cycle which is so valued by our customers. As with all areas of our business, we undertake reviews to ensure that we are operating as efficiently as possible and recent investigations have indicated that improvements can be made.
The following summary aims to provide an overview of current activity;
- Innovation of the Update Cycle Process to streamline the time taken to update approximately 40 products twice annually.
- New approach to Project Management to focus efforts on output and speed turnaround.
- Centralised responsibility and automation of certain processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
- Removal of duplicated processes releasing capacity to further innovate our products and improve product quality even further,
Current savings in terms of efficiency gains total 33% and we remain committed to increasing this wherever possible. Capacity which is identified by process innovation has been redirected to product innovation.
