Tip 15 - GeoAnalyser - Displaying Locations as Images
GeoAnalyser offers a wide range of default styles for displaying your point locations, including a range of image formats. These can be used to add an extra dimension to your maps by providing a visual element to locations that cannot be achieved by standard map pin styles.
Additionally it is possible to import your own images into GeoAnalyser which allows you to customise your maps with things such as your company logo or competitor logo for example. In order to import and map your locations as customised images, follow the steps below:
- In the Tactician UK Dictionary, select Bitmaps from the drop down menu
- Select Add and load your image into the software
- You can load a range of formats such as bitmap, png, jpeg.
Now that you have added your images to the dictionary, you can select the bitmaps from the Style menu within your overlay allowing you to create impressive looking maps such as the one below.

Tip 16 - StreetFinder – Importing Detailed Background Maps
StreetFinder gives you the ability to import raster tiles such as Ordnance Survey Street View
or A-Z images that are presented in TAB or Tiff format. Once imported the Raster images or
Detailed Background Map will be visible at a height of 2 miles or less. This can provide an extra element to your maps by including a “paper map” feel with useful features such as building outlines.
- To import the raster files select from the main menu Tools > Advanced> Manage background maps.
- The Raster Tile Manager dialog will be displayed. To import new tiles select Import Tiles.
- The Background Map Import Wizard will be displayed. This allows you to select where the tiles are being imported from; Disk or Flash drive, Directory or Individual Files.
- Select the location of your files and click Next.
Once you have imported your files you will be able to view additional details within the Tile Manager menu. This allows you to view an Overview of the tiles imported as well as the coverage. Simply zoom into 2 miles on the map to view your imported background map.
