Creating radial Catchments

Step One

Style a Catchment layer - To style your own data, Open an existing project and then select My Data, click on the layer you wish to style.

Step Two

Select Catchments to update - In the Select section of the panel, you can control whether to update all Catchments in the layer or just a single Catchment. To update all Catchments, make sure that the All button is selected. To select an individual Catchment, click on the Catch button, then start to type the Catchment Identifier in the text box and select the required Catchment from the drop down list.

Step Three

Choose the shape - Within the layer editor panel select Design and Build, from here you can control how the catchments are displayed. Expand the Shape selection panel.

Step Four

Select the radius option - To change the size of your catchments by creating a radius around each catchment select  Radius.

Step Five

Change the size of your Catchments

Expand the Size panel, from here you can control the size of the Catchments. You can enter a value into the second box next to Distance to create a radial Catchment from each Catchment centre to the distance specified. Alternatively, if you don’t want your Catchment to start at the Catchment centre you can also enter a value in the box right next to Distance, which will create doughnut shaped Catchments. Press Apply to display the Catchments.  You may need to zoom in to view the Catchments depending on the size.

Step Six

Create multiple Catchments - You can create additional Catchments by pressing the + button in the bottom left of the Size panel. Enter the required size into the Distance value boxes and press Apply to display the Catchments on the map.

Creating travel time Catchments

Step One

Style a Catchment layer - To style your own data, Open an existing project and then select My Data, click on the layer you wish to style.

Step Three

Change the Catchments shape - Within the layer editor panel select Design and Build, from here you can control how the Catchments are displayed. Expand the Shape selection panel.

Step Four

Create travel time Catchments - To change the size of your Catchments by creating a travel time isochrone around each Catchment select Travel Time.

Step Five

Enter the size of your Catchments - Expand the Size panel, from here you can control the size of the Catchments. You can enter a value into the Drive Minutes box to create travel time Catchments of size entered. Press Apply to display the Catchments. You may need to zoom in to view the Catchments depending on the size.

Editing a Catchment boundary manually

Step One

Style a Catchments layer - To style your own layer, Open an existing project, then select My Data and click on the Catchments layer you wish to style.

Step Two

Select a Catchment to modify - To modify the boundary of a Catchment, you need to select the Catchment that you would like to change. Click on the button next to Catch, then click on the dropdown arrow and start to type the first few letters of your Catchment name. When you can see your Catchment click on it to select it

Step Three

Select the size panel - Within the layer editor panel select Design and Build, from here you can control how the Catchments are displayed. Expand the Size section to change the size of your Catchment.

Step Four

Edit the Catchment boundary - You can change the boundary of your Catchment by clicking on Edit Boundary, which will change the Catchment into edit mode with blue nodes around the edge. To modify the boundary, click and drag a node to the required position. You can move as many nodes as you wish. Once you are happy with the shape of your Catchment, press Apply to update the Catchment.  

Step Five

Save your Catchment changes - To save your Catchment changes to your Catchment layer press the Save icon at the top of the screen.
